Take payments on WhatsApp
Payments settle to your own merchant account. The money moves from your customer to you; it never passes through us. We see that a payment succeeded — not the money.
Connecting a gateway
- Open Settings → Payments.
- Pick Razorpay or Cashfree.
- Paste your API key and secret from that gateway's dashboard.
- Copy the webhook URL shown and add it in the gateway's dashboard, so payment results come back to us.
- Send yourself a test payment link and pay a small amount. Confirm it lands in the gateway and marks the order paid here. Do this before a customer does it for you.
If the webhook is missing, payments still succeed at the gateway but never mark the order paid here — the single most common setup mistake on this page.
Sending a link
From a conversation, or from an order:
- In a chat: the payment action generates a link for the amount you enter, with a note.
- From an order: the link carries the order total and reference, so reconciliation is automatic.
- On a bill: a restaurant bill can be sent with the link attached, which saves walking a card machine across the room.
The customer taps it, pays with whatever their gateway offers — UPI, card, net banking, wallet — and the order updates. They do not create an account.
Reconciliation
Each payment is attached to its order and contact, so the inbox, the order and the gateway agree. Your settlement report is in the gateway as usual; what this gives you is knowing which conversation each payment belongs to.
Chasing unpaid links
Set a reminder automation: if a link is unpaid after a few hours, a reminder goes out. It stops as soon as the payment lands.
Two things to get right:
- Use a utility template — it is a transaction, not marketing.
- Stop after two. A third reminder makes people block you, and the order was not coming anyway.
Refunds
Issue refunds in your gateway's dashboard, which is where the money is. The refund is reflected against the order here when the gateway reports it.
Cash on delivery
Confirming COD orders on WhatsApp before shipping is usually worth more than every other payment feature put together — a confirmed order ships, an unconfirmed one too often comes back. See Connect Shopify or WooCommerce.
What Meta charges
Nothing for the payment. Meta charges per message, and we pass that through at cost. A payment link sent inside the 24-hour service window — a reply to a customer who messaged you — costs nothing at all.
